Member Alert – Ongoing Text & Phone Scams
We have been made aware of two active scams targeting credit union members. Please read carefully and remain vigilant.
Fake Payee Text Message
Members may receive a message similar to the following stating:
"CREDIT Union: A new payee Peter Brady IE****AIBKIE2DXXX was created online. Please contact us on +353XXXXXXXX if you did not create this."
This message is fraudulent. The phone number connects directly to a scammer who will attempt to obtain your member number and online PIN to access your account.
Fake €1,500 Energy Grant Scam
Fraudsters are also sending texts claiming you are entitled to a €1,500 energy grant.
• The text may contain a link requesting PIN numbers or online banking details
• A follow-up call may then be made by someone pretending to be from your credit union asking for OTPs or verification codes
• These attempts are designed to steal your personal and banking information
Important reminders:
• We will never ask for your full PIN, passwords, or verification codes
• Do not click suspicious links or call numbers included in unexpected texts
• Always contact us using our official phone number if you are unsure
• If you believe you may have shared information, please contact us immediately so we can secure your account
Your security is our priority. Please share this message with family members who may be vulnerable to scam activity.
